Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin.

Our very own Cardinal Sessions Festival has seen it’s sixth installment this October. We started with six bands in Cologne, took five of them with us to Hamburg and then to Berlin the days after. Our Festival is an experiment: We drive through half of Germany, like a circus of music, and present the same bands in three different cities. This time, we took swedish Anchor-Award-Winner Albin Lee Meldau, dutch Indie-Electro-Pop darlings Mister And Mississippi, british folksinger Jordan Mackampa, Berlin rockers Pabst and the british Punk-Noise trio Yak around. We loved every second of it. Local heroes Darjeeling played Cologne only to heat up everyone with their psychedelic sounds, our friends of Taiberg, Pinqpong and Bunte Burger created a nice atmosphere with Welcome-Drinks, Backpacks and vegan street food.

Indoor or outdoor?

Cardinal Sessions Festival is an indoor-festival with an outdoor stage if the weather is fine – and it happens twice a year. It has grown to be a cosy home for music-lovers who are open for new discoveries. We really love how all our acts are interested in what the others are doing on stage, how you can talk to everyone. It’s more of a really atmospheric hangout. Also, acts who played the festival before, are returning as visitors from time to time, which is really important to us.

Our goal is to host a festival that presents new music to everyone – people who love listening to singer-songwriters will also listen to loud punk bands or almost-jazzy duos. In the past, bands like Shame, Lola Marsh, Andy Shauf or Pomme played very early, intimate gigs. Also, now well-known german bands like Giant Rooks, Woman, Leoniden or AnnenMayKantereit performed on very early stages in their careers. Swiss singer Faber headlined our third festival, scottish Hardcore-Post-Punk band And Yet It Moves closed out the second one.

If you’re interested in our Festival, feel free to send us an Email or drop us a message on the socials. We’ll continue in 2018!
